Lesson Features and the 4 Year Course System

Module and Course Characteristics

Courses at the School of Education are based on ideas of human development and progression. The objective is to provide students with an opportunity to comprehensively learn about human sciences, which is constructed primarily of education studies and educational psychology studies. Students study these two fields extensively and will develop an expertise as the student progresses throughout his/her years at university. The School of Education is divided into two fields, "Education Studies" and "Educational Psychology Studies". Furthermore there are two specific courses in each respective field of study. In Education Studies there is the International Education and Culture course and the Educational Society Program course. In Educational Psychology Studies there is the Human Behavior course and Clinical Psychology course.

Acquiring Licenses and Qualifications.

Students will be eligible to acquire the following licenses and qualifications upon fulfilling the School of Education’s designated credits.

1|To Be a Teacher

Type 1 Junior High School teaching license (Social studies)
Type 1 High School teaching license (Geography / History / Civics)
[If a student has earned credits from other faculties, he/she may be eligible acquire other certifications such as junior high and high school teaching license for Japanese language and Type 1 foreign language.]

2|To Be a Social Education Supervisor

Qualified to be a professional Social Educator and approved by the board of education to help and counsel people’s lifelong study at the board of education.

3|To Be a Clinical Psychologist

Eligible to receive professional certification to be a clinical psychologist who counsels and supports patients’ mental health problems. In order to acquire certification, students are required to have either a masters degree from a designated graduate schools (e.g. Kyushu University Graduate School of Human-Environment Studies, Department of Clinical Psychology and Community Studies) after completing his/her bachelor course at Kyushu University or receive a professional degree from a professional graduate school (e.g. Kyushu University Graduate School of Human-Environment Studies, Department of Clinical Psychology Practice).
